John is a seasoned healthcare leader with more than 15 years’ experience leading complex and dynamic acute and ambulatory operations. As one of the leaders of ECG’s Hospital Performance Improvement (HPI) practice, John brings his expertise in large scale margin enhancement and performance improvement initiatives to help integrated delivery networks (IDNs), academic medical centers, community hospitals and medical groups rapidly improve bottom-line performance and transform patient care operations across the full continuum of their services.
Through his engagement work, John has delivered significant performance improvements in workforce optimization, clinical throughput, medical group performance, shared service optimization and targeted service line initiatives. Noteworthy engagements include partnering with an academic health network to define and implement a $220 M financial improvement plan, leading the development of a turnaround plan for a struggling hospital resulting in margin improvements in excess of $46 million and helping to plan over $90 M in post-merger integration operational opportunities resulting from a multistate health system joint-operating agreement.
John is a thought leader and has been published in HFM, Healthcare Executive, MGMA Connections and other leading industry periodicals. In addition, he has spoken nationally at events sponsored by Beckers, ACHE, HFMA, and HIMSS. He serves as the President of the National Capital Healthcare Executives and also leads the Community Hospital Executive Forum, a quarterly roundtable for c-suite leaders from independent community hospitals.
